Mountaineering Scotland Weekend semester 1 (Braemar)
Dates: 11th - 13th October 2024
Price: £29

This is a super exciting first semester trip away to enjoy the Cairngorms in Autumn (possibly the most gorgeous time of year to be there)! We're staying in a village hall near the village of Braemar and will climb where the weather takes us!! Will be loads of fun - ask anyone who came to Fort William or Inverness if you want to know more!! The trip includes free instruction from Malcolm, our amazing instructor who comes for two weekends with us each year and he is incredible - this is the best instruction deal you'll ever get!!!. This weekend will be catered to whatever you want to learn in climbing, from first steps on real rock to leading trad climbs and placing your own gear
You will need an outdoor membership to attend!!

SMART Weekend

SMART weekend is a student only weekend away at Glenmore lodge with two full days of instruction, plus bed and board! Many of the older club members have been on this weekend and they'll all tell you that it is an unmissable opportunity!

Winter skills weekend
Dates: 17th - 19th January 2025
Price: £75

Winter skills weekend is a student only teaching weekend at Glenmore lodge which covers a range of essential skills needed for venturing into Scotland's mountains in winter. Over two days you will cover route-planning, navigation, winter safety, avalanche avoidance, walking with ice axe and crampons, ice axe self-arrest, and much more (conditions permitting). Walking in the mountains in winter conditions can be dangerous so we highly recommend going on this course if you want to go walking/climbing in winter conditions.

It is also a fun excuse to get out of Edinburgh and play in the snow!

Tour
Dates: 9th - 11th May
Price: TBA
Location: Aviemore

What is Tour?
Once a year we all pile into a minibus on Friday afternoon and skidaddle out of Edinburgh for a weekend of climbing joy. This is the biggest event of the year and we often see previous graduates coming to join in on the fun.

It is accessible for ALL abilities and there will be opportunities to learn. Last year we went to a trad crag and we had people doing their first climb on outdoor rock to doing their first trad lead!
Last year we went to the climbing heaven that is the Lake District. We climbed, we swam, we partied (some of us saw the sun rise), and forgot about the stresses of vet school.
Each year also features fancy dress last years theme was Pixar and the committee came as the cast from Shrek!
